House Republicans Declare War on Secret Earmarks & Wasteful Spending

It doesn't matter if you are Republican, Democrat or other.... you have to agree that this is wrong. Pork-Barrel projects and spending is wrong. If it is not good enough to stand on its own, then it should not be burried in another, often unrelated, bill to be rubber stamped and milk taxpayers out of billions of dollars.

This week on the House floor Democrats in Congress will begin their efforts in earnest to hide pork-barrel projects from voters, budget watchdog groups, and Republicans who challenge wasteful spending.

Call, write and email your represenative and congressperson to tell them that this tactic is not welcome.

Paris Hilton was just ordered back to jail in Lynwood to serve out the remainder of her sentence! She'll get credit for at least 5 days already served.

There may still be justice in America..

Sharkson speaks on Paris

Imagine that- Paris is released from jail after just a few horrific nights of tears and bad clothing, and Al Sharpton has words to share with America about it.

"This early release gives all the appearances of economic and racial favoritism that is constantly cited by poor people and people of color," the civil-rights leader and president of National Action Network said Thursday, according to the Drudge Report. "There are any number of cases of people who handle being incarcerated badly and even have health conditions that are not released."

**I hate to admit it, but I agree with Sharkson on that one.** :-(

"I have served several sentences for civil rights and civil disobedience actions and I even fasted, which caused health concerns to prison authorities who paid for a doctor to come see me daily rather than release me," Sharpton said.
Yeah, well- The grand poobah of 'civil rights' should still be in jail too.

So it appears that Paris was released due to the emotional strain that jail caused... well DUH!!! It's jail. It's meant to be a shock, a blow to ones emotions. You've committed a crime. There a better people who have had worse experiences in jail, but they still had to serve the sentence handed them. DWI and DUI are serious issues, and multiple violations is inexcusable. She was given a second and third chance, but violated the terms of her parole- essentially telling the justice system that feels above the law or superior to anyone who enforces them.
She should serve the full sentence, tears and all. imho

After serving barley 5 days of a 40 day sentence, Paris Hilton has been released from Jail with an ankle bracelet.
She was released for 'medical' reasons.
She will be serving her time under house arrest rather than in jail....
Wow that'll be rough. She'll have to stay home with the staff all day. That might fall under cruel and unusual punishment.

On Wednesday, Democrats suggested changing the House rules to limit the minority's right to offer motions to recommit bills back to committee -- violating a protection that has been in place since 1822.
Consistently, Democrats have prevented Republicans from offering amendments to legislation on the floor, which was standard procedure under GOP rule, too.

The representatives in D.C. are supposed to be looking out for the best interests of the people and the country. Instead, they are fighting each other for pet projects and power. What a waste. A waste of time, money and resources. Our resources. Our time. Our money.
Taxes go up, gas prices go up, interest rates go up, housing prices go up, food prices go up, credit card balances go up, and the salaries of our representatives go up, meanwhile our wallets and bank accounts shrink.

What to do????
Pray for wisdom. Pray that the government would straighten up. Pray for change.

No one is above the law, but Paris and her mom think that A DUI conviction, suspended drivers license and a parole violation are not sufficient crimes to warrant 45 days of jail time.
Why should she be any different?
Why should she have different laws?
Why should she be exempt from the consequences of her actions?
She should be glad they stopped her before she killed someone.

What would mom think if a drunk driver killed Paris? I bet she would be the first one screaming for the death penalty.

Racism is racism

With all his efforts to "free blacks", Sharpton has put himself in the same league as the KKK, Skinheads, the NoI, Westboro Baptist Church, Neo-Nazis, Islamic Terrorists and any other person or group that spews hate from their face holes.

I will not deny that people judge others by external appearance, and that there is still some 'black specific racism' in America. I also believe it is wrong.

But will not accept whites unless they are on their knees. If he truely cares about equallity and unity, then he would condemn ALL hate speech reguardles of origin, condemn ALL sexist speech reguardless of origin. But the evidence I see is that his rhetoric is simply a means to his end.... $$$$!!

Philadelphia Steak Shop Sign Debate

WPVI Philadelphia is runnnig a story about a local steak shop owner who has put a sign in this window stating "This is America: when ordering please speak English."

I originally saw a piece on this on CNN's Newsroom Sunday, and the owner, Joey Vento, did have a valid point. After talking to the Joey, the point of first amendment rights were brought up.

There is a public hearing that will be taking place before the city's human relations commission, but there has been no date set yet.

Does this fall within the realm of first amendment issues? Does a business owner not have the right to state his opinion via a sign he's placed in his window? Interestingly enough, the article referenced here goes on to state that a lady named Margie Abreu, who is the daughter of Spanish speaking parents, says the sign does not offend her.

2 Teen Brothers Sentenced for Cooking Puppy to Death

Fox News is reporting on two teenage brothers in Atlanta being sentenced to 10 years for cooking a puppy to death.

A read of the story is quite sickening when it gets into the details on the puppy.

I'm glad they got 10 years, although they deserve more, for committing this act upon a helpless creature.

But one must wonder... why would kids do this in the first place. (The boys are reported as being 17 and 19.) I would have to question the childhood and values the parents placed (or obviously didn't place) in these kids upbringing.

Los Angeles Hospital Dumps Paraplegic on Skid Row

The AP is reporting that a 41-year old paraplegic man was dumped on skid row.

The AP article states that "Witnesses told police a van from Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center pulled up to a tiny park in the grimy area near downtown at 10:45am Thursday, a side door opened and a man, dressed in a green hospital gown and pants, began struggling to get out.
